Optimaplast Industries Private Limited has officially signed a land lease agreement with the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) for three acres of land in the National Special Economic Zone (NSEZ) in Mirsharai.

The company plans to invest $3.96 million to establish a cutting-edge manufacturing facility for plastic and metal accessories, said BEZA on Tuesday.

Originally founded as Reliance Can Industry (Private) Limited in 1994 in Chattogram, Optimaplast Industries has become a leader in producing high-quality rigid plastic products and packaging solutions in Bangladesh.

Known for its commitment to excellence and innovation, the company serves diverse industries with a wide range of plastic products, including containers, packaging solutions, and industrial components, primarily through backward linkage.

The company has prioritized sustainable manufacturing processes to minimize environmental impact while maintaining top-tier product quality. With an annual turnover of approximately Tk 96 crore, Optimaplast Industries has established itself as a trusted player in the plastic production sector.

The new facility in Mirsharai will focus on manufacturing various plastic and metal items, including plastic bottles, lubricant containers, paint containers, buckets, lids, caps, PET preforms, and PET jars. Additionally, the company will expand into the production of medical supplies such as blood bags and garments accessories.

At the agreement signing ceremony held at BEZA’s office, Saleh Ahmad, Additional Secretary and BEZA Executive Member for Investment Development, congratulated Optimaplast Industries.

He emphasized that the National Special Economic Zone provides a valuable opportunity for investment, adding that the allocation of land would foster industrial synergy and product diversification, benefiting both local and international industries.

In response, Optimaplast Industries Managing Director GM Ekramul Haque expressed his gratitude to BEZA and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to rapidly establishing the new plant.

He shared plans for developing a self-sustained manufacturing hub to serve the needs of other industrial companies operating in the zone.

Both GM Ekramul Haque and Saleh Ahmad signed the land lease agreement on behalf of their respective organizations, marking a significant step in the company’s growth.

Currently, 14 industrial units are operating in the National Special Economic Zone, with an additional 20 units under construction.

This massive industrial zone, the largest of its kind in the country, stretches 25 kilometers along the coastline and is being developed to include all necessary urban infrastructure to support industrial expansion.
