A Bangladeshi family came under attack in Kathmandu on Tuesday when demonstrators stormed a luxury hotel during Nepal’s ongoing political turmoil.
According to the Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu, the intruders broke into the family’s room, physically assaulted them, and looted valuables including their passports.
Hotel staff provided immediate medical support, but due to trauma and safety concerns, the victims were later moved to the ambassador’s residence for shelter and treatment, media reports confirmed.
The unrest also affected the Bangladeshi envoy, whose vehicle sustained damage while he was heading to extend support to the national football team currently in Nepal.
In a separate operation, the embassy rescued 30 Bangladeshi nationals caught up in the disturbances—10 from Tribhuvan International Airport and another 20 from different parts of the capital. They were accommodated in a hotel arranged by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, while the airline directly assisted other stranded passengers.
The embassy said it remains in close coordination with Nepali authorities to ensure the safety of Bangladeshi citizens as the unrest continues to disrupt normal life in Kathmandu.
