The 34th Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election is scheduled for Tuesday, with campaigning set to conclude on Sunday. Ahead of the polls, leaders and activists of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) have announced a day-long campus cleanliness drive starting at 11am on Monday.
As part of the initiative, Chhatra Dal leaders at the hall level will conduct cleaning activities within their respective halls, while university committee leaders will oversee similar efforts across other areas of the campus.
The program was announced on Saturday through a press release by DU Chhatra Dal President Ganesh Chandra Roy Sahos and General Secretary Nahiduzzaman Shipon.
Around 10 panels, both full and partial, are participating in this year’s DUCSU election, including Umama Fatema-led Swatantra Chhatra Oikko, Chhatra Dal-backed Abid-Hamim-Mayed Parishad, Islami Chhatra Shibir-supported Oikkoboddho Shikkharthi Jote, Bangladesh Ganotantrik Chhatra Sangha-backed Boishommo Birodhi Chhatra Andolon, and the left alliance-backed Protibad Parishad.
A total of 471 candidates are contesting 28 posts, including 62 women. The membership category alone has 217 candidates, while across the university’s 18 halls, 1,035 candidates are competing for 13 posts.
