Rajshahi University’s (RU) Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leader Anisur Rahman Milon has been expelled for life following his offensive remarks about female residents of July 36 Hall.

The decision was announced on Thursday through a statement signed by Nafiu Islam, office secretary of the RU JCD unit, reports UNB.

The expelled leader, Milon, served as the vice president of the Shah Makhdum Hall JCD unit.

On Monday, the hall provost had summoned 91 female students via a notice for allegedly entering the hall beyond the permitted hours. The notice drew heavy criticism on social media, prompting the hall administration to retract it on Tuesday.

The controversy intensified when a Facebook page, “Rajshahi University Parliament,” shared an image of the notice alongside Milon’s highly derogatory comment about the students. In the post, Milon referred to the female students as “unpaid sex workers,” igniting widespread outrage online.

Following the backlash, the JCD unit initially suspended Milon and set up an investigation committee. After the inquiry found his explanations unsatisfactory, the party decided to expel him permanently.

Milon, however, claimed that his Facebook account was “not under his control” when the remarks were made.
