A Dhaka court has ordered seizure of income tax documents of Bushra Siddique, daughter of Tarique Ahmed Siddique, former defense adviser to ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
Acting Judge Ibrahim Mia of Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Court passed the order on Tuesday following a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
ACC Public Relations Officer Assistant Director Tanzir Ahmed confirmed the information.
ACC Assistant Director SM Rashedul Hasan, also investigation officer in a tax evasion case, filed the petition.
The petition said that Bushra Siddique, who is a named accused in the case, is under investigation by the ACC.
It is found that Bushra is a taxpayer in Tax Circle-174, Tax Region-08, Dhaka.
According to the Income Tax Law, a court order is required to collect income tax returns and related records.
Therefore, it was deemed essential to seize the original copies of her income tax returns and other related documents and provide certified photocopies for review during the investigation.
Earlier, on April 29, the same court issued a travel ban on Bushra and seven other members of her family.
