The Department of Bangladesh Haor and Wetland Development has sought public opinions on a draft report with an eye to updating the “haor master plan” for managing the flood-prone wetlands in the northeast.

The updated master plan is expected to guide long-term policies on water management, agriculture, and livelihoods in one of Bangladesh’s most vulnerable ecological zones.

The draft, prepared under the project “Integrated Survey for the Evaluation and Updating of the Haor Master Plan”, was published on August 24 on the websites of the Ministry of Water Resources and the Department of Bangladesh Haor and Wetland Development.

Officials said the plan is open to comments not only from government and autonomous bodies but also from the public, according to a press release.

It said that suggestions can be submitted by email to dbhwd.hmp@gmail.com or mailed to the department’s Dhaka office at 72 Green Road by September 23, 2025.
