Deftones have unveiled their long-awaited 10th studio album, ‘Private Music’, on August 21. After weeks of anticipation, the record is finally available to stream worldwide.
The 11-track project is led by the singles ‘My Mind Is a Mountain’ and ‘Milk of the Madonna’, and also includes ‘Locked Club’, ‘Ecdysis’, ‘Infinite Source’, ‘Souvenir’, ‘Cxz’, ‘I Think About You All the Time’, ‘Cut Hands’, ‘~Metal Dream’ and ‘Departing the Body’.
Recorded and produced in part across Malibu and Joshua Tree, the release marks the band’s first full-length effort since 2020’s Ohms. That album debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200, giving the group their sixth top 10.
Deftones first announced Private Music in early July, revealing its striking cover art: an albino snake coiled against a vivid green background, along with the simple message that said, “private music | out august 22.”
On the same day, they dropped the lead single My Mind Is a Mountain, followed by Milk of the Madonna a month later.
In the days leading up to release, the band hosted exclusive listening parties in cities around the world, including Amsterdam, Mexico City, Los Angeles, London, Melbourne, New York, Sydney, Toronto, Vancouver, Berlin, Paris and their hometown of Sacramento.
The new record also arrives in the middle of Deftones’ North American headline tour, which has already featured stops at Madison Square Garden in New York and the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.
The band continues the trek with Canadian shows beginning in Vancouver on Friday, before returning to US stages later this year.
