July Charter: 24 parties submit opinions, 7 yet to respond

A total of 24 political parties have submitted their opinions on the draft of the July Charter to the National Consensus Commission(NCC) by the deadline of 3pm on Friday.

The commission earlier corrected errors in the draft and sent a revised version to the parties on the night of August 16. It later extended the deadline until August 22, reports BSS.

The parties that responded include Bangladesh Nationalist Party(BNP), Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, National Citizen Party(NCP), Liberal Democratic Party, Khilafat Majlis, Amar Bangladesh Party, Nationalist Democratic Movement, Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, Bangladesh Biplobi Workers Party, Jatiyatabadi Somomona Jote, 12-Party Alliance, Aam Janta Dal, Gano Forum, Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal, Jatiya Gano Front, Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (Marxist), Gano Sanghati Andolan, Bangladesh Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, Bangladesh Labor Party, Zaker Party, Bhashani Janshakti Party, Bangladesh Nezami Islam Party and Communist Party of Bangladesh.

Commission sources confirmed that seven parties have yet to give their views. These include Nagorik Oikya, Islami Andolan Bangladesh, Gano Odhikar Parishad, Rastra Sangskar Andolon, Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam Bangladesh and Islami Oikya Jote.

Officials said the time for opinion submission on the final draft will not be extended further.
