The Bangladesh Boys’ Under-15 team cruised to an emphatic 87-run victory over Bangladesh Women’s Team Red in the second match of the Women’s Challenge Cup at the BKSP-3 ground on Wednesday.
The triangular tournament, which also includes Bangladesh Women’s Team Green, is being staged as part of the national women’s side’s preparations for the upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.
Team Red, who had defeated Team Green by 32 runs in the opening fixture, struggled to match the intensity of the boys’ side and were bundled out for 94 in 38 overs, chasing 182.
Earlier, after being put in to bat, the Under-15s posted 181 for 8 in their 50 overs. Captain Bayzid Bostami anchored the innings with a composed 46.
The bowlers then took charge, led by Alimul Islam Adib who claimed 3 for 12. Afridi Tariq and Abdul Aziz also made key contributions, each picking up two wickets, as Women’s Red found themselves in deep trouble.
Only four Red batters reached double figures, with opener Sharmin Sultana top-scoring on 20.
The Under-15 side’s dominant display leaves the competition finely poised ahead of the remaining matches.
