Julian Wood, who took charge as Bangladesh’s power-hitting coach on 7 August, will work with the team until the Asia Cup. However, before holding any sessions with the players, the former English first-class cricketer conducted a workshop on Tuesday with local coaches.
The session, held at the academy building of the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, was organised for coaches under the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) Game Development department. Over the course of the lengthy workshop, Wood discussed modern coaching methods, batting techniques, and the art of power hitting.
Among those present were national team senior assistant coach Mohammad Salahuddin, Bangla Tigers head coach Sohel Islam, under-17 head coach Hannan Sarkar, Talha Jubair, Mahbub Ali Zaki, and a total of 16 local coaches.
BCB Game Development head Habibul Bashar Sumon told Times of Bangladesh:
“This workshop will benefit the coaches. Wood will also work with the players, but we felt the coaches should be familiar with these concepts as well. I believe this will help them improve in the long run. We’ve been working for quite some time to raise the standard of our top-level coaches, and this is part of that process.”
