Thirty people have been arrested in separate drives conducted by joint forces and Mohammadpur police in Geneva Camp and surrounding areas. Law enforcers also seized drugs and sharp weapons during the operations.
The special raids were carried out throughout Monday and later into the night. Among those arrestee, 26 are accused in the murder case of Shah Alam, who was killed in the camp on Monday afternoon.
In addition, two people were arrested under the Explosives Act, two under the Narcotics Control Act, and one in connection with a different case.
According to a statement from the joint forces on Tuesday afternoon, the arrestees are: Ankon (18), Arif (25), Saheb Biswas (27), Faiyaz alias Kamran (30), Siam (19), Faisal (26), Selim (20), Shawon (24), Masud Rana (23), Akash (23), Ishtiaq (20), Rashed (23), Russell (23), Mohammad Raj (20), Rakib (20), Bashir (38), Pappu (36), Shah Alam (20), Nasir (34), Russell (27), Hira (35), Azad (22), Alamin (22), Jamil (28), Golam Rasul (44), Mostak (24), Saeed (21), Shuvo (24), Rakib (22) and Faisal (37).
Items seized during the raids include 20 machetes, 50 helmets, 3 leg guards, 2 Chinese axes, 4 vests, 60 yaba pills, a smartphone, and Tk2,740 earned from drug sales.
