Ali Riaz, vice chairman of the National Consensus Commission, has said that a national charter can be formulated based on areas of agreement reached through dialogue, bridging political differences.

“This charter will pave the way for fulfilling the national aspiration of state reform,” he during the commission’s dialogue with the National Democratic Movement (NDM) on Tuesday (April 15) at the LD Hall of the National Parliament.

Riaz noted that the commission’s primary goal is to draft the national charter as swiftly as possible. Since the commission’s mandate runs until mid-July, he expressed hope that preliminary discussions would conclude by mid-May, after which the next phase of work would commence.

“We will continue discussions step by step to see how a collective position can be achieved,” he added.

An eight-member NDM delegation, led by party chairman Bobby Hajjaj, took part in the talks.

Bobby Hajjaj said his party agrees with most of the commission’s proposals. “We want to view state reform within a broader framework and are ready to actively participate in this initiative,” he said.
