Education Adviser CR Abrar has stated that he has no intention of resigning voluntarily, but will step down if directed by the Chief Adviser.

Speaking to reporters at a press briefing on Wednesday, Abrar responded to ongoing protests and criticisms following the delayed decision to postpone the HSC exams due to the recent jet crash.

“I have been the subject of discussions, but I don’t believe there has been any disruption in my work. However, if it is felt that my actions have caused disruption, I will definitely leave if the Chief Adviser asks me to,” Abrar said. “There is nothing here for me to cling to, and nothing to justify.”

The Education Adviser also addressed the recent removal of the Education Secretary, explaining that it was a decision made by a high-level committee. “I was not involved in that decision, so I cannot speak to why it was made,” he added.

The Adviser’s comments come amid growing unrest among HSC examinees, who have been protesting over the delays in exam scheduling, leading some to demand his resignation.

Meanwhile, at least 80 people were injured as clashes broke out between law enforcers and protesters demonstrating at the Secretariat on Tuesday afternoon, demanding the education adviser’s resignation.

The HSC exams postponed following the recent crash of a Bangladesh Air Force fighter jet that occurred on Milestone School and College campus in Uttara on July 21.

The incident left at least 32 dead and dozens injured and has sparked anger and sorrow among students, leading them to take to the streets.
