Actor Sreeleela has joined the cast of Rajinikanth’s upcoming Tamil film ‘Dharman’, marking her first collaboration with the superstar. The announcement was made on Wednesday by Raaj Kamal Films International, which is backing the project.
As confirmed by the Filmfare.com, the film is directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, and it stars Simran, Nayanthara, Yogi Babu and Raashii Khanna. The production house welcomed Sreeleela through a video shared on social media, describing her as having “the spark” and “the pataka”.
Sreeleela’s addition comes as she expands her presence in Tamil cinema. Following her debut in Sivakarthikeyan’s ‘Parasakthi’, she signed several major projects, including ‘Om’, alongside Dhanush and Mammootty, and Ajith Kumar’s ‘Daredevil’, directed by Adhik Ravichandran.
‘Dharman’ also marks the first collaboration between Rajinikanth and Marimuthu, who previously directed ‘Oh My Kadavule’ (2020) and ‘Dragon’ (2025).
Rajinikanth is reportedly playing a doctor with a darker side. The makers have described his character as a “Ketta Paiyan”, recalling his memorable role in J Mahendran’s ‘Mullum Malarum’ (1978). Promotional posters featuring the actor with blood on his hands have also fuelled speculation about the character’s morally ambiguous nature.
The film completed its third production schedule in late September and is reportedly approaching the final stages of principal photography.
Kamal Haasan is producing the project under Raaj Kamal Films International, alongside R Mahendran of Turmeric Media. Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music, continuing his association with Rajinikanth. The technical team also includes cinematographer Niketh Bommi, stunt choreographers Anbariv, editor Pradeep E Ragav and production designer Karthik Rajkumar.
Although the makers have not announced an official release date, ‘Dharman’ is reportedly targeting a theatrical release in April 2027.
