Actor Dylan Sprouse has uncovered an unexpected twist in his family tree after taking an ancestry test, discovering that both sides of his family had a history of twins and had previously intermarried, states People.
On the 20 October episode of his podcast ‘Wildmen’, the actor explained that he initially believed the family’s history of twins came from his mother’s side. However, his genealogical research revealed that relatives on his father’s side also included identical twins.
Dylan said both sides of his family had settled in California during the Gold Rush era and had joined through marriage generations before his parents married. Reflecting on the discovery, he jokingly described himself and his identical twin brother, Cole Sprouse, as “children of incest”.
He also shared an unusual family anecdote about an aunt who had absorbed her twin in the womb, with hair and teeth reportedly found in a cyst removed from her shoulder.
The brothers rose to fame as Zack and Cody in Disney Channel’s ‘The Suite Life of Zack & Cody’. Dylan recently welcomed his first child, daughter Sylvie, with wife Barbara Palvin.
