A group calling itself Lal Hit Janata Party has emerged to counter the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), which has been staging protests in Connaught Place and other parts of Delhi, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The new group held its first membership gathering at Malviya Smriti Bhawan in Delhi on Sunday to oppose the CJP.
At the event, Lal Hit Janata Party Chief Ayan Bhatnagar and other speakers criticised the CJP, the Congress and the protesters.
They alleged that the demonstrations had challenged the country’s constitutional institutions and caused financial losses to businesses.
Bhatnagar said the meeting aimed to determine the group’s future strategy and demonstrate its ability to mobilise a large number of people at short notice.
He also questioned how many people would assemble if Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for mobilisation.
Describing Dussehra as a festival that symbolises the victory of good over evil, Bhatnagar urged people to move beyond social media and take to the streets.
During his speech, he used terms such as “insects”, “cockroaches” and “cockroach-like creatures” to describe the protesters.
Bhatnagar said the period between Dussehra and Diwali marked the peak business season for traders across the country.
He warned that disruptions in a major commercial hub such as Connaught Place would not be tolerated.
He also alleged that the protesters had attempted to disrupt activities in several metropolitan cities, including Delhi.
