Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has presented national flags to seven units of the Army’s 9th Infantry Division at Savar Cantonment.

He arrived at Savar Cantonment from his residence in Gulshan around 9:15am on Sunday. Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman welcomed him upon his arrival.

A smartly turned-out contingent of the Bangladesh Army presented the prime minister with a guard of honour at the cantonment.

He later exchanged salutes with the soldiers present.

Security measures have already been strengthened at key locations, including the Dhaka-Aricha highway, ahead of his visit. Enthusiastic locals stood along both sides of the road and waved to welcome him.

The prime minister is scheduled to visit an area that has replaced a roadside waste dump along the highway, featuring a variety of flower and fruit gardens. He will also plant a sapling along the section of the Aminbazar-Baliarpur road.
