138 new dengue cases in 24 hrs

In the last 24 hours, 138 new dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country, according to a report from the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services, released on Friday. 

No new deaths were reported during this period.

Barishal Division has recorded the highest number of dengue cases, with 60 new cases. 

Among the new patients, 25 were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka, while the remaining 113 were hospitalized in various districts outside Dhaka.

Since January 1, 2024 until Wednesday, a total of 54 people have died from dengue. Of these, the highest number of deaths, 21 were reported in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) area.

Additionally, 14 deaths have been reported from Barishal Division, 5 from Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), and 4 each from Chattogram and Khulna Divisions. 2 deaths occurred in Rajshahi Division, while 1  each was reported in Mymensingh and Dhaka Divisions.

As of the end of 2024, a total of 101,214 people have been affected by dengue, and 575 deaths have been recorded. In 2023, dengue claimed the lives of 1,705 individuals, with 321,179 people hospitalized across the country due to the virus.
