Salman Khan’s upcoming war drama ‘Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace’ has undergone another major rewrite, with the makers changing its climax and the arc of Khan’s character ahead of its expected CBFC screening this week.

Director Apoorva Lakhia and the writers have reportedly reworked the ending to ensure the film’s treatment of the India-China conflict aligns with its new focus on peace.

The film was initially titled ‘Battle of Galwan’ and centred on the 2020 Galwan Valley clash, with Khan playing Colonel Bikumalla Santosh Babu. As India-China ties improved, the makers reportedly reconsidered the film’s portrayal of the neighbouring country and carried out extensive changes and reshoots.

The project was later renamed ‘Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace’, signalling a shift in its tone.

The revised version reportedly received a No Objection Certificate from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting last week and has now been submitted to the CBFC.

The production team did not respond to media queries.
