Three people died of dengue in Khulna division in the last 24 hours, according to the latest health department report.

The new fatalities bring the division’s death toll this year to 55.

During the same period, 302 fresh patients were admitted to hospitals — 231 in government facilities and 71 in private hospitals.

Since 1 January, Khulna division has recorded 15,063 dengue cases.

Of them 13,379 have recovered and been discharged from hospital, while 1,263 remain under treatment.

Another 366 patients have been referred elsewhere for advanced care.

According to data from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), as many as 1,396 people were infected and eight died during the first five days of October alone.

Khulna district remains the worst affected in the division since the start of the year, reporting the highest infection rate with 5,798 identified cases in the district and another 2,988 dengue patients detected at Khulna Medical College Hospital, alongside 48 deaths.

Bagerhat district holds the second position in the division with 2,020 recorded cases, followed by Jashore district in third place with 1,483 cases.

Meanwhile, hospitals across Khulna continue to suffer from a severe shortage of beds for dengue patients, forcing many infected individuals to receive treatment at home on doctors’ advice.
