The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) has revised its CSE50 Index, adding seven companies and excluding seven others based on their market performance and representation.

The newly included companies are BSRM Steels, Berger Paints Bangladesh, Dhaka Bank, Fine Foods, Heidelberg Materials BD, Taufika Foods & Lovello Ice-Cream and The Ibn Sina Pharmaceuticals Industry.

The companies removed from the previous composition are Al-Arafah Islami Bank, IFIC Bank, Islami Bank Bangladesh, Mercantile Bank, One Bank, Premier Bank and United Commercial Bank.

The revised index will come into effect on 11 October, according to a statement issued by the exchange on Wednesday.

The CSE50 Index is reviewed twice a year to reflect changes in the performance and market coverage of listed companies.

The revised index represents a wide range of sectors, including banking, pharmaceuticals and chemicals, energy, telecommunications, cement, engineering, food, financial services, insurance, manufacturing and consumer goods.

Among the constituents, the banking sector has the highest representation, with companies including Bank Asia, BRAC Bank, City Bank, Dhaka Bank, Dutch-Bangla Bank, Eastern Bank, Jamuna Bank, Mutual Trust Bank, National Credit and Commerce Bank, Prime Bank, Pubali Bank, Shahjalal Islami Bank, Southeast Bank, Trust Bank and Uttara Bank.

The pharmaceuticals and chemicals sector includes ACI, Beacon Pharmaceuticals, Beximco Pharmaceuticals, Kohinoor Chemical, Square Pharmaceuticals, ACME Laboratories and The Ibn Sina Pharmaceuticals Industry.

Other major sectors represented in the index include energy companies Jamuna Oil, Meghna Petroleum, Padma Oil and Summit Power; telecommunications firms Grameenphone, Robi Axiata and Bangladesh Submarine Cables; and cement companies Heidelberg Materials BD and LafargeHolcim Bangladesh.

The index also includes manufacturing and industrial companies such as Bangladesh Steel Re-Rolling Mills, BSRM Steels, GPH Ispat and Khan Brothers PP Woven Bag Industries, along with consumer goods companies including Fine Foods, Marico Bangladesh, Olympic Industries, Taufika Foods & Lovello Ice-Cream and electronics maker Walton Hi-Tech Industries.

According to the CSE, the revised CSE50 constituents represented 76.40 per cent of the total market capitalisation of all stocks listed on the exchange as of 30 June 2026.

In terms of free-float market capitalisation, the index companies accounted for 72.57 per cent of the total CSE-listed market on the same date.

The constituents also represented 53.72 per cent of the average daily turnover of all stocks traded on the exchange during the six months ended 30 June 2026.
