Regular classes and academic activities at the University of Dhaka’s Department of Music can continue without disruption after IPDC Finance PLC has recently extended power support to the department amid the prevailing heatwave.
The support is intended to create a more comfortable learning environment for students, said a press release on Wednesday.
The initiative reflects IPDC Finance’s continued commitment to music, cultural heritage and the development of young musicians through its flagship music initiative, IPDC Amader Gaan.
Department of Music, Dhaka University (DU), Chairman and Associate Professor Priyanka Gope said, “We sincerely appreciate IPDC Finance for extending this thoughtful and timely support to our department. This initiative has been warmly received by our students, particularly at a time when the prevailing heat is making regular academic activities challenging.”
IPDC Finance PLC Managing Director Rizwan Dawood Shams said, “Music is an integral part of Bangladesh’s cultural identity, and supporting those who nurture and carry this heritage forward is a responsibility we value deeply. Our support for the Department of Music, University of Dhaka, is a natural extension of this commitment.”
DU Department of Music has long contributed to the formal education and development of musicians and music practitioners in Bangladesh, the press release added.
