Two passengers of a private car were killed and at least 20 others were injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a private car in Kashiani upazila of Gopalganj on Wednesday.
The accident took place at Shibgati Stand area on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway around 12:30pm. The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Locals and Bhanga Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Helal Uddin confirmed the incident.
The OC said a Dhaka-bound bus of Dola Paribahan collided head-on with a Gopalganj-bound private car.
The private car was completely mangled in the collision, while the bus lost control and fell into a roadside ditch.
Two passengers of the private car died on the spot, while at least 20 passengers of both vehicles were injured.
The injured were rescued and taken to Kashiani Upazila Health Complex. Later, several critically injured passengers were shifted to Gopalganj General Hospital and Faridpur Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
