More than six years after Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, a fresh CBI probe has revived questions about his final days and his former manager, Disha Salian.

Sushant died on 14 June 2020. Six days earlier, on 9 June, Salian died after falling from a high-rise in Mumbai. Her death was initially treated as accidental, while Sushant’s case was investigated separately. Over time, speculation grew about a possible link between the two deaths.

That link is now back in focus. On 14 September, the CBI registered an FIR into Salian’s death after the Bombay High Court’s 2 September order directed a fresh probe. The order followed her father Satish Salian’s allegations of serious lapses in the earlier investigation and his demand for a fresh inquiry.

Could this reopen Sushant’s case? Not automatically. The CBI filed a closure report in Sushant’s case in March 2025, concluding there was no foul play. The new investigation remains separate. However, credible evidence directly linking the two deaths could prompt further legal or investigative action.

The FIR covers allegations including murder, gang rape, criminal conspiracy and destruction of evidence. These are allegations being investigated, not established findings.

It also names Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray and actors Rhea Chakraborty and Dino Morea. Being named does not establish guilt or necessarily mean they are accused; their roles, if any, remain subject to investigation.

For now, Sushant’s case remains closed while Salian’s enters a new phase. The key question is whether the fresh probe uncovers evidence that could bring the two cases back into the same frame.
