Bangladesh pacer Marufa Akter has reached a career best position in the ICC Women’s T20I bowling rankings after her strong performances in the Women’s Asia Cup.

Marufa jumped 19 places to reach 18th in the latest rankings released by the ICC on Tuesday.

The 21 year old has been in fine form with the ball in the Asia Cup.

She took two wickets for only six runs in Bangladesh’s opening match against Indonesia. She followed that with three wickets for 21 runs against Sri Lanka.

Those performances helped Marufa reach 18th place with 622 rating points. Both her ranking and rating are career bests.

Her previous best position was 23rd, which she reached in May.

Bangladesh off spinner Sultana Khatun also made progress in the latest rankings. She moved up nine places to 37th after taking one wicket for 14 runs against Sri Lanka.

However, Rabeya Khan and Nahida Akter dropped in the rankings.

Leg spinner Rabeya slipped one place to 21st. Left arm spinner Nahida fell four places to 32nd.

Bangladesh also saw some improvement in the batting rankings.

Captain Nigar Sultana Joty moved up one place to 21st. She remains Bangladesh’s highest ranked batter, with no player from the country currently inside the top 20.

Sobhana Mostary climbed three places to 36th after scoring an important 34 against Sri Lanka.

Opener Dilara Akter also made progress. She jumped five places to reach 62nd in the latest rankings.
