Al-Arafah Islami Bank PLC has launched a tree plantation programme at Khulna University as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, aiming to support environmental conservation and promote a greener campus. The bank began planting native fruit-bearing, forest and medicinal tree saplings across the university premises under the slogan “Let’s Decorate the Country with Tree Plantation, Bangladesh First”.
Professor Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim, Vice-Chancellor of Khulna University, attended the inauguration ceremony as chief guest, while Mohammad Nazim Uddin, Senior Executive Vice President and Khulna Zonal Head of Al-Arafah Islami Bank PLC, chaired the event.
Professor Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim welcomed the bank’s initiative and highlighted the importance of large-scale tree plantation in ensuring sustainable development. He thanked Al-Arafah Islami Bank and all stakeholders involved for undertaking the environmental programme.
Mohammad Nazim Uddin said tree plantation would play an important role in maintaining environmental balance, conserving biodiversity, improving quality of life and addressing risks associated with climate change. He expressed hope that similar initiatives would continue through future collaboration with Khulna University and thanked the university authorities for their support.
The programme was attended by Professor Dr. Md. Nurunnabi, Treasurer of Khulna University; Professor Dr. Md. Golam Rakibu of the Forestry and Wood Technology Discipline; respected provosts of the university; S. M. Mohammad Ali, Deputy Registrar and Head of the Estate Branch; Md. Enayet Fakir, Vice President and Manager of Al-Arafah Islami Bank’s Khulna Branch; Md. Abdul Mannan, Vice President and Manager of the bank’s Gallamari Branch; along with officials and executives from the bank and the university.
