LafargeHolcim Bangladesh PLC has launched a nationwide award programme to recognise engineers for structural innovation, sustainable construction and contributions to Bangladesh’s infrastructure development.

The company announced the Holcim Structural Excellence Awards 2026 on Wednesday, with the programme set to culminate in a grand gala event in January 2027.
The award was inaugurated by LafargeHolcim Bangladesh CEO Iqbal Chowdhury at an event attended by civil engineers, academic leaders and industry experts.
“Engineers are the true architects of our nation’s rapid modernisation and resilient infrastructure,” Chowdhury said, adding that recognising engineering excellence is important as Bangladesh advances towards smart, climate-resilient and sustainable urbanisation.

He said the initiative aims to encourage innovation, promote green construction practices and connect local engineering professionals with global expertise and modern technologies.
The awards will feature four categories — High Performing Concrete Structure, Advanced Concrete Technology & Circularity, Legendary Structural Engineer Award and Next Generation/Visionary Design.
The first three categories will have one winner each, while the Next Generation/Visionary Design category will recognise 10 emerging engineers for innovation, technical expertise and future-ready engineering leadership.

One recipient from the category winners will receive the Grand Winner title.
The selection process will follow five phases, starting with the launch and call for submissions, followed by project submission, shortlisting, jury evaluation and final winner selection.
Participants will submit technical dossiers, structural drawings, sustainability impact reports and project verification documents. Shortlisted candidates will go through detailed evaluation, including presentations and independent scoring by an external jury panel.

The jury panel includes BUET Department of Civil Engineering Professor Raquib Ahsan, Ananta Group Executive Director Major General (Retd) Nizam Ahmed, Inter Space Managing Director and Lead Design Engineer Abdullah Al Hossain Chowdhury Rizvi, SB Consultant Managing Director A K M Saiful Bari, and MIST Department of Civil Engineering Associate Professor Lt Col Khondaker Sakil Ahmed.

Professionals can submit their projects through the award website and LafargeHolcim Bangladesh’s website.
LafargeHolcim Bangladesh Commercial and Logistics Director Mohammad Mahfuzul Hoque said the company remains committed to supporting engineering talent and promoting sustainable building solutions.
The launch event was conducted by LafargeHolcim Bangladesh Head of Marketing Abid Mahmood.
