Popular actor Faruque Ahmed is set to return to the literary world with his fifth book, Muchhe Jaowa Dinguli, a collection of memoir-style stories largely inspired by his real-life experiences.
Published by Kingbodonty, the book will feature 15 stories, most of which draw from incidents and experiences from Faruque’s own life.
“I have written 15 memoir-style stories in the book. Most of them are based on true incidents from my life. In one lifetime, I have had many experiences and have seen and learnt many things. I have written these stories drawing from those experiences,” Faruque said.
The actor, who has also established himself as a writer over the years, said his previous four books received a warm response from readers, particularly during the Ekushey Book Fair.
“Especially during the Ekushey Book Fair, when I sit at the stall, readers buy my books with great interest. Their love gives me immense joy. Although I am not a professional writer, I am an actor,” he said.
Faruque described Muchhe Jaowa Dinguli as one of his favourite works and expressed hope that the stories would connect with readers.
“Muchhe Jaowa Dinguli is one of my favourite books. I believe readers will like it as well. I hope the stories will touch them,” he said.
Faruque began his literary journey with Smritite Humayun Ahmed. He later published Bhanga Choshma, Amar Bola Na Bola and How Mao Khao.
Reflecting on the response to his earlier books, Faruque said the affection he has received from readers has encouraged him to continue writing.
“Seeing the love readers have shown for my previous four books has truly moved me. I am grateful to them. I hope to continue writing regularly,” he said.
When asked how he balances his acting career with writing, Faruque said he approaches both passions with equal sincerity.
“Whatever I do, I do it wholeheartedly. I do it with love and sincerity. Acting has been a long-standing passion of mine, and I also enjoy writing,” he said.
Alongside his literary pursuits, Faruque remains active in acting and is currently busy shooting for several new television dramas and films.
“My shooting is ongoing, and I am working on some new projects. Alongside dramas, I am also working in films,” he said.
Faruque is also associated with Dhaka Theatre and has previously directed stage productions.
As he continues to balance acting, writing and theatre, the actor now looks forward to reaching readers once again with Muchhe Jaowa Dinguli.
