This year’s Junior Scholarship Examination will begin on December 8 and continue until December 15, with tests to be held simultaneously across the country.
Students who completed Class 8 this year will sit for the examination in four subjects, said Jasmine Taslima Banu, controller of examinations at the Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.
According to the schedule, the Bangla examination will be held on 8 December, followed by English on 10 December and Mathematics on 13 December.
The final examinations, in Science and Bangladesh and Global Studies, will take place on 15 December.
All examinations will be held from 10am to 1pm.
The examination will be based on the Class-8 curriculum. Bangla, English and Mathematics will each carry 100 marks, while Science and Bangladesh and Global Studies will carry 50 marks each.
Students will have three hours for each of the first three subjects.
On the final day, they will have three hours to complete the two 50-mark papers, with 90 minutes allotted to each subject.
Students will be selected for merit and general scholarships based on their performance across all four subjects, with a total of 400 marks.
The examination was initially scheduled to be held between 15 and 20 December under the academic calendar announced by the Ministry of Education.
The schedule has now been brought forward.
Candidates must enter their examination centres and take their seats at least 30 minutes before the tests begin.
They will have to collect their admit cards from their respective school heads at least seven days before the examination.
Candidates must correctly fill in their roll number, registration number and subject code on the OMR answer sheet. The answer sheet must not be folded.
Board-approved basic scientific calculators will be allowed in the examination.
No candidate or anyone other than the centre secretary will be allowed to enter an examination centre with a mobile phone or any other electronic device.
