Bangladesh players have made major gains in the latest ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings after their historic win over Australia in Darwin.
Bangladesh beat Australia by nine wickets in the first Test. It was their first Test victory on Australian soil.
Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto was one of the biggest movers among the batters. His first innings knock of 84 helped Bangladesh take control of the match.
Shanto moved up nine places to 20th in the Test batting rankings.
Mominul Haque also climbed five places to 31st. Australia’s Cameron Green moved up five spots to 30th.
There was also a major change at the top of the batting rankings.
Australia’s Travis Head lost the No. 1 position after scoring 22 and 17 in Darwin. He dropped three places to fourth.
England batter Harry Brook returned to the top spot. Joe Root sits second, while Australia’s Steve Smith is third.
Only 33 rating points separate the top four batters.
Bangladesh also enjoyed big gains in the bowling rankings.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz climbed three places to 24th. Hasan Mahmud made an even bigger jump, moving up 26 places to 38th.
Hasan was named Player of the Match after taking nine wickets in the Test. He claimed six wickets in Australia’s first innings and added three more in the second.
Miraz also played a key role with the ball. He took five wickets in Australia’s second innings.
India pacer Jasprit Bumrah remains the No. 1 Test bowler.
The latest rankings also brought changes in ODI cricket after Ireland’s home series against Afghanistan.
Afghanistan won the series 4 to 0. Captain Rashid Khan strengthened his position as the No. 1 ODI bowler after taking 12 wickets in the series.
Azmatullah Omarzai moved up nine places to 19th among ODI bowlers after taking eight wickets in four matches.
Sediqullah Atal also made a big jump in the batting rankings. He climbed 37 places to 33rd after scoring 313 runs in the series.
Ireland’s Curtis Campher moved up 23 places to 36th among ODI batters, while Andrew Balbirnie climbed five places to joint 47th.
