Max Group of Industries is preparing to expand into Bangladesh’s solar market and plans to introduce its own solar-related products and services, the group’s Chairman Ghulam Mohammed Alomgir announced on Thursday.
Speaking as a distinguished guest at Astronergy’s World Tour 2026- Bangladesh Roadshow in Dhaka, Alomgir said the group had already ordered solar-related materials worth Tk20 crore, which are expected to arrive soon as part of its expansion into the sector.
He said the timing of the Chinese solar company’s initiative was appropriate as the government is placing greater emphasis on renewable energy, including utility-scale solar, rooftop systems and solar irrigation.
“The government is very serious about solar power and solar business,” he said, urging investors to take the emerging opportunity seriously.
Alomgir highlighted the market’s significant potential, citing the national ambition to develop 10,000 megawatts of solar power within the next five years.
On international collaboration, Alomgir said Chinese renewable energy companies could be potential partners rather than competitors. He specifically recommended Chint, a company he has known for more than 12 years, and Blue Carbon as key partners for those interested in the sector.
He also said Max Group and Blue Carbon are planning to work together to bring products and solutions to the Bangladeshi market.
Max Group currently operates around 2.5MW of solar capacity at one of its factories.

Astronergy, a China-based global solar photovoltaic company, organised the roadshow to mark its 20 years in the industry and strengthen its presence in Bangladesh. A major highlight of the event was the launch of the N7 Pro solar module, designed for high performance and durability.
Mostafa Al Mahmud, president of the Bangladesh Sustainable and Renewable Energy Association (BSREA), also spoke at the event, describing renewable energy as a “strategic necessity” for Bangladesh amid rising electricity demand and climate risks.
He called for international partnerships to move beyond technology supply towards technology transfer, competitive financing and long-term investment.
The event brought together industry leaders, investors and a Chinese delegation. It featured an award ceremony for local distributors and strategic partners, along with contract-signing sessions aimed at further cooperation in the sector.
Astronergy reaffirmed its commitment to promoting high-efficiency technology as Bangladesh seeks to reduce its dependence on conventional fuels.
