BCB president Tamim Iqbal on Tuesday unveiled a new players’ lounge at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, named ‘Tigers Den’, saying the facility was created to give Bangladesh’s current and former cricketers a space they can truly call their own.
The lounge will be open to every male and female cricketer who has represented Bangladesh at least once at the international level. Speaking to reporters after a brief media session at the venue, Tamim said the facility would serve as a place where players could relax, watch matches or simply spend time when visiting the stadium.
‘We had a small media session today, but I also wanted to show everyone this place. We have created this lounge called “Tigers Den” for our cricketers. Every men’s and women’s player who has represented Bangladesh, even for a single match, will have a place here to sit, enjoy matches on game days or simply spend time during office hours,’ Tamim said.
The lounge is almost ready, but the BCB president said its official inauguration would take place only after the remaining work is completed.
Tamim also said the facility would feature some of the most significant moments in Bangladesh cricket’s history, including the 1997 ICC Trophy triumph, the women’s Asia Cup title and the country’s first Test victory.
‘We haven’t officially opened it yet because a few things are still left to be done. We want to preserve some of Bangladesh cricket’s greatest memories here. Once those displays are ready, we will formally open it with the cricketers,’ he said.
