More than a year after its debut, KPop Demon Hunters continues to dominate Netflix, proving its popularity is far from fading.
According to Netflix’s latest What We Watched report, released on Wednesday and covering viewing from January to June 2026, the animated blockbuster ranked as the platform’s fourth most-watched film with 130.4 million views. As reported by Deadline, only War Machine, The Rip and fellow animated feature Swapped finished ahead of it.
The achievement adds to an extraordinary run for the film. In Netflix’s previous What We Watched report, covering July to December 2025, KPop Demon Hunters topped the global film chart with 481.6 million views.
The film premiered on 20 June 2025, just days before the close of the January-June 2025 reporting window. It initially ranked 31st after drawing 36.7 million views in its first 10 days. Strong reviews and enthusiastic word of mouth later turned it into one of Netflix’s biggest animated successes.
Directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans and produced by Sony Pictures Animation, the film follows a K-pop trio who secretly balance superstardom with their hidden lives as demon hunters.
Its success extended well beyond streaming. Earlier this year, KPop Demon Hunters won Academy Awards and Golden Globes for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for Golden, performed by Ejae, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami. It also swept all 10 categories in which it was nominated at the 53rd Annie Awards. A sequel was confirmed in August 2025.
Netflix also scored another animated success with Swapped, the Skydance-produced adventure starring the voices of Michael B. Jordan and Juno Temple, which recorded 131 million views in its first reporting period.
Although KPop Demon Hunters originated at Sony Pictures Animation, Netflix classifies it as a Netflix Original following its acquisition.
