Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 425 people in its regular anti-crime drives across the capital over the past 24 hours.
During the period, police filed 57 cases against the arrested individuals.
According to DMP, the arrests were made by different police divisions across the city. Of those detained, 39 were arrested by Ramna Division, 24 by Lalbagh Division, 61 by Wari Division, 57 by Motijheel Division, 56 by Tejgaon Division, 88 by Mirpur Division, 55 by Gulshan Division, 43 by Uttara Division and two by the Detective Branch (DB).
Police also recovered 1.077 kilograms of cannabis, 6,025 yaba tablets, three grams of heroin, a battery-powered easy bike, a victim, nine mobile phones, a smoking pipe, a dice board, Tk610 in cash, three machetes, two knives, an axe, a shovel and a switchblade knife from their possession.
The arrests were made during separate operations conducted by police stations across the capital, targeting illegal drugs and possession of locally made weapons.
Legal action against the arrested individuals is underway, DMP said.
