Thunderstorms with 60 km/h storm likely in 8 districts

Met office has warned that thunderstorms accompanied by rain and gusty winds reaching speeds of up to 60 kilometers per hour may occur in eight districts in the country.

In a special bulletin issued on Monday, valid until 1 pm, the met office issued a warning for inland river ports.

According to forecaster Khandaker Hafizur Rahman, temporary gusty or squally winds blowing from the south or southeast at 45 to 60 km/h may sweep over the districts of Jessore, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Comilla, Noakhali, Chattogram, and Cox’s Bazar. Rain or thundershowers are also likely in these areas.

As a result, river ports in these regions have been advised to hoist cautionary signal number 1.

In a separate bulletin, the met office said that until 6 pm today, all divisions of the country may experience temporary gusty winds with lightning, along with light to moderate rain or thundershowers. There is also a possibility of moderately heavy rainfall in some areas of Khulna, Barisal, and Chattogram divisions.

Additionally, thunderstorms with rain are expected to continue across the country throughout the week.
