France and Senegal remained level at 0-0 at half time in their Group I match at the FIFA World Cup 2026 on Tuesday.

Senegal looked the sharper side during the opening 45 minutes and created the best chances of the game. Nicolas Jackson came close in the 23rd minute when he cut inside and struck the post. The ball bounced off France goalkeeper Mike Maignan before going out for a corner.

The African side continued to push forward and nearly found the breakthrough in stoppage time. Sadio Mane set up Ismaila Sarr inside the box, but the forward lifted his effort over the crossbar with the goal at his mercy.

France enjoyed more of the ball but struggled to trouble Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy. Kylian Mbappe showed flashes of danger, while Ousmane Dembele and Michael Olise tried to unlock the defence, but Senegal stayed organised at the back.

Kalidou Koulibaly led the defence well and helped keep France’s attack quiet for most of the half.

Senegal will feel it should be ahead after creating the clearer opportunities, while France will look for a stronger display after the break.
