United States Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T Christensen, has praised the traditional Kalai Ruti of Rajshahi after sampling the local delicacy. Expressing his delight after the meal, Christensen described the experience as “great fun!”
On Tuesday afternoon, the ambassador visited the renowned “Rumon Kalai House” located in the New Market area of Rajshahi city. He spent a significant amount of time observing the preparation process of this bread with great interest.
During the visit, he used his mobile phone to take photographs and selfies of the bread-making process. He also observed the preparation of other traditional items, including eggplant mash (begun bharta) and the cooking of duck meat.
Following the observation, Christensen sat down with his wife to enjoy a meal of Kalai Ruti and duck meat. After the meal, he pointed out that the taste of the Kalai Ruti, duck meat, and eggplant mash was, in a word, excellent.
A large number of local people gathered at the site to catch a glimpse of the US ambassador enjoying the traditional food. The visit took place under strict police security, and Christensen was accompanied by members of his entourage.
