National Film Award-winning filmmaker Taneem Rahman Angshu has announced his new feature film ‘Limbo’, marking his return to feature filmmaking after a lengthy break, with the project set for release in 2027.
The film has already generated considerable interest among audiences following the release of its first-look poster on social media. The director has now revealed details about the film’s genre, setting and production plans.
According to Anshu, ‘Limbo’ will be a space drama and cosmic romance, a concept he says has never before been explored in Bangladeshi cinema. He believes the film’s visual effects and narrative depth will offer a completely original experience in the country’s film history.
To achieve an international standard, the filmmaker plans to shoot the film across three different countries. He also expects formal discussions and agreements with potential cast and crew members to begin in August.
In addition, there are plans to screen the film at several prestigious international film festivals before its commercial release in Bangladesh.
Speaking about his return to filmmaking, Anshu said, “Over the last six or seven years, I had several films under development. But I was looking for something that would be highly challenging and would tell a story being portrayed in Bangladesh for the first time. I have always enjoyed creating new styles and exploring new genres.”
He acknowledged the complexity of the project, adding, “I think Limbo is a very challenging project. It may seem impossible to make a film like this in Bangladesh, but as a filmmaker, I have chosen to embrace that challenge.”
Earlier, while sharing the film’s poster on social media, Anshu wrote: “No matter how many light-years apart we are, the pull of familiar emotions never fades. At the boundary between emptiness and fulfillment, stories of loss and reunion become one.”
Anshu first gained widespread recognition with ‘No Dorai’, and ‘Limbo’ is expected to be his most ambitious project to date.
