The government has approved the establishment of a new state-run medical college in Narsingdi to expand medical education and strengthen healthcare services at the grassroots level, according to an official notification.
The new institution will be named Narsingdi Medical College.
The approval was issued on Sunday through a notification from the Medical Education-1 Branch under the Health Education and Family Welfare Division of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Signed by Secretary Md Kamruzzaman Chowdhury, the notification said that, by order of the President, approval has been granted for establishing Narsingdi Medical College under the Health Education and Family Welfare Division.
The order will take immediate effect, it added.
