National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Organiser Sarjis Alam has claimed that BNP is deceiving the people. Speaking at the same event, NCP Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari said that BNP has fallen into a trap set by Awami League.
The leaders made these observations on Friday afternoon during an Eid reunion and joining programme organised by the NCP at the Chengarchar Degree College ground in Matlab Uttar upazila, Chandpur.
Addressing the gathering, Sarjis stated that the level of deception witnessed from the current elected government in just four months is unprecedented in the history of Bangladesh.
He specifically drew attention to BNP’s 31-point demand, the first of which is the formation of a Constitution Reform Commission.
Alam argued that if a constitution is not created through this commission in accordance with the people’s aspirations, then the talk of reform is false; otherwise, the 31-point demand itself constitutes an even greater lie.
NCP Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari alleged that a day or two ago, the government colluded with “killers” to release Ivy Rahman. He reiterated that BNP has fallen into the Awami League’s trap.
Earlier in the day, after offering Jummah prayers at the Imam Maidan Nuria Madrasa in Matlab Uttar, central leaders of the NCP participated in a tree-planting programme alongside party activists.
The event was chaired by the Convener of Matlab Uttar Upazila NCP, Arifa Tuhin, and moderated by the Upazila Joint Convener, Imadul Islam. Special guests in attendance included NCP Organising Secretary Md Ataullah, Joint Chief Coordinator Mahbub Alam, and District Convener Mahbub Alam.
Several tiers of law enforcement were deployed around the venue to prevent any untoward incidents.
