Pakistani police arrested four suspected Indian agents during a raid conducted on Wednesday in the Quaidabad area in Karachi, police officials confirmed.
The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the Sindh police, working alongside an intelligence agency, carried out the operation after receiving a tip-off, SIU SSP Mohammed Shoaib Memon said.
The arrested men were identified as Mohammed Khan alias Gullu, Yameen Malah, Akhter Thaheem and Ghulam Qadir alias Akash, according a Dawn report.
Memon alleged that the suspects were linked to India’s intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), and were involved in espionage activities across the country.
“A terror plot was successfully foiled with their arrest,” Memon told reporters.
During the raid, police seized two hand grenades, a Kalashnikov, a rifle, two pistols and mobile phones containing sensitive material. The phones are being sent for forensic analysis.
The SIU chief further alleged that the suspects had filmed and photographed sensitive installations across the country and shared the material with RAW using specialized software.
The men reportedly confessed to meeting RAW and Indian Border Security Force officials along the border, receiving substantial sums of cash, liquor and other gifts as part of their operations, Memon added.
