The court has deferred the submission of the further investigation report in the murder case of Inquilab Moncho convener Sharif Osman Hadi for the 14th time and fixed 7 June for the next hearing.
The order came on Sunday after the investigation officer of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Assistant Superintendent of Police Abdul Kadir Bhuiyan of Dhaka Metro (East), failed to submit the report.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam passed the order as the investigation agency failed to submit the report today.
Prosecution sub-inspector Rokonuzzaman confirmed the matter.
Earlier, Detective Branch (DB) police submitted a charge sheet in the case on 6 January, naming 17 accused. However, Inquilab Moncho expressed dissatisfaction with the charge sheet.
The case was scheduled for hearing on 12 January. On that day, complainant and Inquilab Mancha member secretary Abdullah Al Jaber sought two days to review the charge sheet.
The court accepted the request and fixed 15 January for acceptance of the charge sheet.
On that date, Abdullah Al Jaber filed a no-confidence petition against the DB charge sheet. Following this, the court ordered a fresh investigation by the CID.
According to the case details, Hadi gained prominence during the July uprising and movements against the banning of the Awami League. He had announced his intention to contest the 13th parliamentary election as an independent candidate from Dhaka-8.

He was critically injured and first taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for surgery. He was later admitted to Evercare Hospital in Dhaka the same night. Two days later, he was airlifted to Singapore for treatment. He died there on 18 December.
Following the shooting, Abdullah Al Jaber filed an attempted murder case on 14 December. Later, the murder charge under Section 302 was added to the case. The investigation was later handed over from the police station to the Detective Branch.
