Bangladesh Krishi Bank (BKB) celebrated International Workers’ Day on 1 May with a day-long programme of discussions, a rally, and welfare activities, drawing representatives from the International Labour Organization alongside the lender’s own unions and associations, the bank said in a press release.
The event was jointly organised by the Bangladesh Krishi Bank Employees Union, B-985 (CBA), the Officers’ Welfare Association, and the Women’s Forum. Speakers at the gathering stressed the importance of upholding international standards on workers’ rights, a safe working environment, and social protection. Tributes were paid to workers throughout the day, with calls for broader awareness and strengthened mutual amity and unity. The bank’s authorities expressed their commitment to continuing worker-friendly initiatives in the future.
Among those present were Bangladesh Krishi Bank Jatiyatabadi Forum Chief Coordinator and Deputy General Manager Md Zahid Hossain, Officers’ Welfare Association Convener and Deputy General Manager Syed Liakat Hossain, Employees Union B-985 (CBA) President Fayez Uddin Ahmed, General Secretary Md Miraj Hossain, and Women’s Forum Convener Taslima Akter Leena, alongside officers and employees from various levels of the bank.
