Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday unveiled a 10‑year national strategy to protect family structures and reverse declining birth rates.
Speaking at the “Family and Population Vision 2026‑2035” programme in Istanbul, Erdogan said preserving the family and promoting marriage are central to the government’s agenda, Xinhua reports.
The roadmap also targets higher fertility, youth development, elderly welfare, and rural growth for balanced population distribution.
“The family is transforming in the age of digital techno‑culture and faces significant challenges,” Erdogan said, adding the initiative aims to strengthen the social fabric and ensure long‑term demographic stability.
He announced that the last week of May will be marked as “National Family Week” to raise social awareness.
