Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to visit Sylhet on a daylong tour on Saturday, during which he will inaugurate several development projects, attend public programmes and offer prayers at a major religious site.
According to the visit itinerary, the prime minister is expected to arrive in Sylhet by air at 10am.
He will first visit the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) to offer prayers.
He will later attend the foundation stone-laying ceremony of a Sylhet City Corporation project aimed at addressing waterlogging in the city.
The programme will be held at Chandni Ghat near Sylhet Circuit House, where he is also scheduled to address a civic gathering.
The prime minister will subsequently inaugurate the re-excavation work of the Baisa River in Kashipur Union under Sylhet Sadar Upazila.
In the afternoon, he will launch the “Notun Kuri Sports-2026” programme organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports at Sylhet District Stadium, aimed at identifying emerging sporting talent.
He is also expected to attend a meeting at the Shilpakala Academy later in the day before returning to Dhaka in the evening.
Officials said this will be the Prime Minister’s first visit to Sylhet since assuming office. His last visit to the district was on 21 January for election campaigning.
