Government employees are likely to enjoy an extended break during the upcoming Eid ul-Azha, with a week-long leave expected around the religious festival.

According to the current holiday calendar, a total of seven days’ leave has been scheduled from 26 May to 31 May .Of these, 26 May and 31 May are set to be observed as holidays by executive order.

Prior to this, 22 and 23 May fall on the weekly holidays. There is a possibility that offices may remain open on Saturday to adjust the weekly holidays with the Eid break, which could extend the overall leave by an additional day.

A similar arrangement was made earlier this year, when the government added an extra day to the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.

Meanwhile, according to forecasts by astronomers in the UAE, 26 May is likely to be observed as the Day of Arafah.
