A woman was killed after being run over by a truck in Jhenaidah on Friday afternoon.
The incident took place in the Arappur area of the town.
The deceased was identified as Shammie Akhter (42), wife of Mizanur Rahman from Minapara area of Kushtia district town.
She was travelling on a motorcycle with her husband towards Jhenaidah town.
Locals said the couple was coming to Jhenaidah from Kushtia by motorcycle in the afternoon. When they reached in front of Moshior Rahman Girls’ School on the Arappur–Chuadanga road stand, the woman fell from the motorcycle due to a damaged road.
At that time, a truck coming from behind ran her over and fled the scene. She died on the spot.
Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shamsul Arefin said the body was recovered and sent to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
