Actor Tariquzzaman Tapan has been admitted to the intensive care unit of a private hospital in Dhaka as his condition continues to worsen amid a battle with cancer.
The update was shared by his family, who also appealed for public support to help manage treatment costs and facilitate a possible transfer to a government medical facility.
Tapan was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer late last year, with doctors later confirming that the illness had reached an advanced stage. He has since undergone multiple rounds of chemotherapy.
Family members say his health has declined significantly in recent days, prompting his admission to intensive care. They also noted ongoing financial strain as treatment expenses continue to rise.
Attempts to secure a bed in a government hospital have so far been unsuccessful due to limited availability.
Tapan is known for his work across television dramas and films, earning recognition for his performances, particularly in comedic roles. His notable credits include ‘Alta Banu’, ‘Thikana’ and ‘Ja Chhilo Ondhokare’, along with popular television projects such as ‘Jora Shalik’, ‘Hatchhani’, ‘Olpo Golpo’ and ‘Mrittikar Jatra’.
