Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Houssain Kaikobad made an unexpected visit to the Ashkona Hajj Camp on Thursday night ahead of the first Hajj flight for 2026.
The first Hajj flight is scheduled to depart on Friday. Since Wednesday, pilgrims have started arriving at the Hajj camp in preparation for the journey.
The minister visited the camp around 9pm. Hajj Office Director Md Lokman Hossain was present at the time.
He reviewed preparations for the inaugural Hajj flight ceremony and inspected overall arrangements at the camp. He also spoke with pilgrims and inquired about their travel preparation, accommodation and food arrangements.
The minister also held discussions with officials, staff and volunteer team leaders deployed at the camp.
He said pilgrims are “guests of Allah” and their service must be treated as worship. He stressed that no pilgrim should suffer in any way.
The minister said the government is giving the highest priority to ensure that pilgrims can travel in comfort, safety and without disruption on their sacred journey.
He urged all concerned to work sincerely in providing services to the pilgrims. The minister remained at the Hajj camp until late night.
