Renowned actress Jaya Ahsan has opened up about her evolving dietary habits, revealing that her commitment to animal rights has led to a significant psychological shift regarding her diet choices.
Ahsan, whose youthful appearance and fitness remain a point of curiosity for fans and colleagues alike across both Bengals, shared that she has been striving to become a pescatarian over the last three years. Unlike many who follow foreign diet trends, she prioritises satisfying her “soul” through her meals.

However, the actress confessed to a growing discomfort with consuming animal products, citing her advocacy for animal rights as the catalyst.
“Lately, I can’t even eat eggs or fish. I feel like I am killing an animal. This is a mental issue of mine,” she said in a recent interview.

Jaya Ahsan further explained that eating chicken makes her feel as though she is consuming the food of “four-legged street children.” Despite these personal struggles, she maintained that protein intake remains essential, particularly for women.
Her preferences on shooting sets are equally distinct. Ahsan identified shingara, green chillies, and onions as the “national food of shooting,” noting that she loses her temper if these are missing from the set.

Additionally, a cup of milk tea made by her mother is an indispensable part of her morning routine.
Addressing her long-standing preference for vegetables and raw foods, Jaya Ahsan clarified that while she does not eat everything raw, she has been able to consume many raw items since childhood.
“I don’t eat everything raw, but I can eat many things raw,” she explained, addressing light-hearted comments from those who observe her diet.
